Cargo 3.0 transforms how you interact with the largest library of 3D assets. By combining the precision of Advanced Filtering with the creative freedom of our new Discovery Engine, you can move fluidly between finding a specific part and exploring entire visual concepts. Whether you are searching by keyword, uploading a reference image, or rolling the dice for fresh inspiration, Cargo ensures the right asset is always within reach.

The Discovery Engine

As our library expands to include thousands of models, materials, and textures, finding the "right" asset is about more than just keywords.

The Discovery Engine is a suite of four intelligent tools designed to support your workflow at every stage, from initial mood boarding to final set dressing.

Five discovery tools work together as an integrated engine. Each reinforces the others.

NEW: Image Search

Search with what you see, not what you type. Image Search removes the need to translate visual ideas into keywords. You can now use reference photos, mood boards, or concept art to find matching 3D assets.

  • How to use it: Drag and drop any image (JPG, PNG) directly into the search bar

  • Best for: Finding assets that match the specific vibe, architectural style, or material composition of a reference frame or concept painting.

NEW: Smart Search

Our search has been rebuilt from the ground up with semantic understanding. It interprets the meaning of your query rather than just matching tags.

  • Conceptual Searching: You can search for emotions or descriptors like "abandoned," "ornate," or "scary."

  • Natural Language: Type the way you think (e.g., "1950s diner bar stool" or "trees and tables together").

  • Multi-Language & IP: Smart Search understands various languages, pop culture references, and specific IPs.

NEW: Show Similar

Turn a single asset into a gateway for more. When you find an asset that is "almost right," use Show Similar to repopulate your grid with visually and conceptually related items.

  • How to use it: Click the magnifying glass icon in the upper right of any asset

  • Chainable Discovery: You can use Show Similar on a result, then use it again on the next result to go "down the rabbit hole" until you find the perfect match.

  • Compatibility: This feature works seamlessly across both the Model and Material libraries.

NEW: Random Roll

From Studio into Cargo, Random Roll is designed to break your routine and spark unexpected creative directions.

  • How to use it: Click the Dice icon to see a randomized selection of assets.

  • Structured Discovery: You can combine this with filters.
For example, set your genre to "Sci-Fi" and then use Random Roll to explore only Materials within that category.

Browse

Cargo 3.0 Introduces a new way to browse. Search through our entire library or narrow it down with over a dozen filters and sorting methods available.

Using the Search Bar

Use the dropdown menu (next to the search bar) to select which type of assets you'd like to browse:

  • All Assets

  • Models

  • Materials

  • Textures

  • HDRIs

Using Filters

Narrow your search.

Use the filter menu under the search field to sort the entire library by filters such as Genre, Asset Type, or Size.

To show or hide the row of filters, click the filter icon in the upper right.

Filter Types

You can stack multiple filters like "Sci-Fi" + "Buildings" to find exactly what fits your project's technical and creative requirements.

Genre - Refers to the style or inspiration of the Kit that the model is from. For example, Cyberpunk is classified as the “Sci-Fi” genre

Access - Use to quickly find owned assets or assets unlocked for Free

  • Free - Use Free to filter for all assets we unlock for free, without a subscription. Free assets available on a non-scheduled basis. Read more about free assets here.

  • Owned - Use the Owned filter to quickly find Kits that you have a Perpetual License to. Read more about Perpetual Licensing here

Kit - Use Kit to filter assets by the Kit each asset belongs to.

Size - Allows you to filter assets by their height (in meters). If you’re looking for small props you can select less than 1m, or if you’re looking for skyscrapers, you can select greater than 50m

Model Type - Use Model Type to view models by broad categories such as Buildings, Destruction, Furniture, Nature, etc

Gameplay Ready - Use Gameplay Ready filter to view all assets that are fully optimized for Unreal Engine, including handcrafted collisions, instancing, and Nanite compatibility. All Kits we release will be Gameplay Ready.

  • We do not have a timeline on when the back catalog of Kits will be reworked to be Gameplay Ready. At this time, only Kits marked as Gameplay ready and all future releases will come with the Gameplay Ready features.

Material Type - Use Material Type when searching for specific materials such as Organic, Liquid, Plastic, Rock, etc.

Substance Material - Check this box for all assets that are built for use with Substance Painter. These assets are built to be adjusted, allowing you to fine-tune specific surface details to fit your scene's exact requirements.

  1. Deep Parametric Control: Unlike static textures, Substance assets allow you to modify variables like dirt level, wear-and-tear, or color shifts directly within your DCC (Digital Content Creation) tool.

  2. Art-Directable Surfaces: Use these when you need to specifically "direct" the look of a surface—such as making a metal pipe look more rusted in the corners or changing the pattern of a brick wall.

  3. Production-Ready: Every Substance material is handcrafted and optimized to maintain visual consistency across different lighting environments.

Gameplay Ready

Gameplay Ready Kits are fully optimized for Unreal Engine, meaning they include handcrafted collisions, instancing, and Nanite compatibility right out of the box. Compared to standard Kits, these versions dramatically reduce draw calls, triangle counts, and memory usage, so you can build high-quality environments that actually perform in-game.

Troubleshooting FAQ

Why aren't my Owned Kits aren't showing up in Cargo as Owned?

When you purchase a Kit license, the Kit is automatically unlocked in Cargo under the same account email address.

If a purchased Kit is not showing up in Cargo, restart Cargo to see if the Kit shows up after a restart.

If you still do not see the purchased Kit in your account, ensure the Kit was purchased under the same account email address that you're using to sign into Cargo.

Reach out to our Support Team if your Kits aren't showing up as unlocked in Cargo.

Does Smart Search support languages other than English?

Yes. Smart Search is built with semantic understanding that supports multiple languages. You can search using native terminology, and Cargo will connect the meaning to the most relevant assets in our library.

Can I use "Show Similar" on materials?

Absolutely. Show Similar is a cross-asset tool. If you find a Wood PBR material that has the right grain but the wrong color, clicking Show Similar will surface materials with similar physical properties and visual structures.

Why does "Random Roll" show me the same items?

Random Roll is truly randomized, but if you have heavy filters applied (e.g., Genre: Cyberpunk + Object Type: Vehicle), the pool of assets is smaller. Try clearing your filters to see the full breadth of the KitBash3D and Greyscalegorilla combined libraries.
