Whether you are looking for fully furnished rooms or architectural shells for cinematic depth, KitBash3D offers different solutions for your 3D environments. This guide breaks down the three ways we handle interiors across our library.
Dedicated Interior Kits
These Kits are specifically built to be viewed from the inside. They include high-fidelity props, furniture, and detailed internal architecture.
Best for: Close-up interior shots, character-driven scenes, and first-person environments.
Key Kits include:
Residential: Apartment Interiors, Enchanted Interiors
Commercial: Retail Stores, Neighborhood Shops, Restaurants
Public Services: Police Department, Emergency Response
Sci-Fi: Cyberpunk Interiors
Interior-Ready World Kits
Since the release of our Hong Kong Kit, we implemented a standard for our World Kits which started to include Interior Spaces.
Instead of opaque, fully reflective glass, these buildings feature semi-transparent windows and modeled internal floors and walls. While they do not come pre-furnished, these shells provide realistic parallax depth for external shots and allow you to place your own lights and props inside without needing to model the interior structure yourself.
Kits following this standard:
All Kits released after Hong Kong.
Upgraded Legacy Kits: Neo San Francisco, Outlaw, Shogun, and Cyberpunk.
Legacy Cinematic Kits
Our earlier Kits were primarily designed for large-scale cinematic external shots. These buildings typically feature "Black Box" or highly reflective window materials with no internal geometry. This keeps the poly-count low for massive cityscapes where the interior is not visible.
How to Check a Kit’s Interiors
Before purchasing or importing, you can verify the interior detail using these methods.
The Gallery View
On every Kit’s product page at kitbash3d.com, scroll down to the "Individual Assets" section. Here, you can see the structural breakdown of the buildings to determine if they are architectural shells or solid exterior meshes.
Inspection via Cargo
The most efficient way to check for interiors is through Cargo, our free asset browser.
Search for any Kit or individual asset.
Use the 3D Inspector to rotate and look through windows.
Use the advanced filters to find specific interior props for dressing your "Interior-Ready" shells.
Tip: If you are using an "Interior-Ready" building in Unreal Engine, remember that these Kits utilize our Gameplay Ready structure, making it easier to navigate these internal spaces with collisions right out of the box.
