The Cargo Support Menu is a dedicated, built-in toolkit available in Cargo Desktop designed to help you quickly troubleshoot common software issues, access documentation, clear app data, or get direct assistance from our team.
Note: The Support Menu is exclusively available in the Cargo Desktop application.
Cargo Resources & Navigation Options
1. Documentation
What it does: Directs you to the official collection for the Cargo Help Center.
When to use it: When you need guides on setting up 3D software integrations, system requirements, or troubleshooting general workflows.
Practical Example: You’re connecting Cargo to Blender for the first time and need a step-by-step setup guide to ensure the plugin is properly configured.
2. Keyboard Shortcuts
What it does: Opens the complete reference guide for Cargo Keyboard Shortcuts.
When to use it: When you want to speed up navigation, quickly switch search filters, or view system hotkeys.
Practical Example: You want to quickly filter search results to Materials only without manually clicking through menus—pressing Ctrl + 3 (Windows) or ⌘ + 3 (Mac) switches your search scope immediately.
Cargo Diagnostics & App Maintenance Options
4. Open Logs Folder
What it does: Opens your system’s file manager directly to Cargo’s log directory.
Windows:
%APPDATA%\kitbash3d\LogsMac:
~/.kitbash3d/Logs
When to use it: When troubleshooting export failures or crashes with our support team, who may request your diagnostic log files.
Practical Example: An asset download or software export fails silently without an error message. Opening the logs folder allows you to attach the latest log file to a support request for deep diagnosis.
5. Open App Data Folder
What it does: Opens Cargo’s root app data folder on your computer.
Windows:
%APPDATA%\kitbash3dMac:
~/.kitbash3d
When to use it: When performing manual file inspections, checking local database files, or troubleshooting persistent configuration issues.
Practical Example: The Customer Support team instructs you to verify whether a specific local database file exists or check if local custom assets are stored in the root directory.
6. Clear Cache
What it does: Clears HTTP cache and session cookies, logging you out of your account. It reloads the app without restarting it.
Data Safety: Non-destructive. Leaves your downloaded assets, preferences, and SQLite database completely untouched.
When to use it: When experiencing minor web visual bugs, stale interface data, or login authentication issues.
Practical Example: The Cargo interface is showing outdated account details or fails to refresh newly purchased kits. Clearing the cache signs you out, refreshes web connectivity, and resolves stale UI issues upon signing back in.
7. Clear All App Data
What it does: Resets the local SQLite database, clears downloaded file indexes, software configurations, installed 3D tool links, and signs you out.
Data Safety: Destructive to local settings and software links, requiring re-linking of 3D applications.
When to use it: When Cargo encounters serious internal database corruption, repeated software connection errors, or stuck downloads.
Practical Example: Cargo fails to detect Cargo supported 3D software plugins despite re-installing them, or the asset download queue is permanently stuck. Clearing all app data gives Cargo a fresh start without deleting downloaded model files from your hard drive.
8. Clear Old Installs
What it does: Scans your system and removes leftover temporary files and directories from older Cargo versions while leaving your current setup untouched. Restarts Cargo afterwards.
When to use it: When reclaiming disk space after major app upgrades or resolving file conflicts caused by residual data from previous versions.
Practical Example: You upgraded Cargo through several major updates over a few years and want to safely clean up redundant installation files left behind by older versions in %APPDATA% or ~/.
Cargo Contact & Feedback Options
9. Send Feedback
What it does: Opens your default email client to send a direct message to
info@kitbash3d.com.When to use it: When sharing feature requests, workflow suggestions, or general thoughts on how to improve Cargo.
Practical Example: You have an idea for a new asset-filtering feature or UI improvement that would speed up your daily 3D layout work.
10. Report a Bug
What it does: Opens your default email client pre-addressed to
help@kitbash3d.com, pre-populating critical diagnostic information (app version, OS, user ID, active subscription plan, and owned kit count). When to use it: When encountering reproducible bugs, software crashes, or broken asset downloads.
Practical Example: When installing the connector to a supported version of Unreal Engine returns an error message, using Report a Bug automatically provides technical support with your exact setup details so they can diagnose the bug faster.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Where can I find the Support Menu in Cargo?
The Support Menu is located directly within the Cargo Desktop application interface. Click on your profile icon or the settings menu in the bottom-left corner of Cargo Desktop to reveal the support options.
Will using "Clear Cache" or "Clear All App Data" delete my downloaded 3D assets?
No. Your downloaded model and material files stored on your local hard drive are completely safe.
Clear Cache only signs you out and clears temporary web/UI session data.
Clear All App Data resets app preferences, software connections, and local indexing databases, but does not delete your physical 3D asset files.
What is the difference between "Clear Cache" and "Clear All App Data"?
Clear Cache is a mild, non-destructive refresh. It logs you out and reloads interface data without affecting your app setup or connected 3D software plugins.
Clear All App Data is a full factory reset of Cargo's local settings. It clears your database, software integrations, and download lists. You will need to re-link your 3D software (e.g., Blender, Maya, 3ds Max) after using this option.
Why is the Support Menu only available on Cargo Desktop?
Because functions like accessing local system logs (%APPDATA% or ~/.kitbash3d), clearing app databases, and managing installed software links require local operating system access, these diagnostic tools are exclusive to the Cargo Desktop app.
Why does "Report a Bug" automatically open my email app?
Selecting Report a Bug automatically drafts an email to help@kitbash3d.com and pre-populates critical system details—such as your operating system, Cargo app version, user ID, active subscription type, and owned kit count. This allows the support team to diagnose your technical issue much faster without lengthy back-and-forth communication.
What if clicking "Send Feedback" or "Report a Bug" does not open an email app?
If clicking either option opens Google Chrome, another browser, or nothing at all, your operating system is set to handle email links (MAILTO) using a web browser instead of a mail application. You can easily fix this by updating your computer's default email handler:
On Windows:
Open the Start Menu and go to Settings (⚙️) > Apps > Default apps.
Scroll down and click Choose default apps by protocol (or search for
MAILTO).Locate MAILTO in the list and click the current app assigned to it.
Select your preferred email app (such as Outlook or Mail).
On macOS:
Open the built-in Mail app on your Mac.
In the top menu bar, click Mail > Settings (or Preferences).
Under the General tab, look for Default email reader.
Change the selection from your web browser to your preferred email app.
When should I use "Clear Old Installs"?
You should run Clear Old Installs if you have upgraded Cargo across multiple versions over time and want to free up storage space. It safely scans for and deletes leftover installation directories from previous software builds while keeping your current version completely intact.
