Sunsetting Unity Support in Cargo FAQ

Everything you need to know about the discontinuation of Unity support in Cargo

Updated this week

We are focusing our development on a ground-up rebuild featuring USD-native importers and a more streamlined experience for our core high-fidelity software.

As part of this evolution, Unity support will not be included in the initial launch of Cargo 3.0, and support for Unity in Cargo 2.4.2 will reach its End-of-Life in March 2026.

Below are the details regarding why this change is happening and how it affects your account.

Why is Unity support being sunset?

Cargo 3.0 introduces a completely rebuilt asset pipeline centered on USD. We're launching with support for the DCCs where this architecture delivers the strongest experience today in Blender, Cinema 4D, Unreal, Maya, and Houdini.

Unity isn't included at launch, but we're continuing to monitor its evolving USD support and haven't ruled out revisiting this in the future.

What happens to my current Unity setup?

Before March 16, 2026
You can continue to use Cargo 2.4.2 with Unity as you do today.

After March 16, 2026
Cargo 2.4.2 will reach its end-of-life. While the software may still open, we will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, or compatibility updates for Unity.

Cargo 3.0
When you upgrade to Cargo 3.0, Unity will not be available as a target software in the initial release.

Am I eligible for a refund?

Yes. We want to ensure this transition is fair for our dedicated Unity-only creators.

  • Prorated Refunds: If you do not wish to continue with Cargo using another supported DCC, please contact support (info@kitbash3d.com).
Unity-only subscribers will receive a prorated refund for the remainder of their current billing period, calculated from the day we receive your request.

    • Processing: These refunds will be processed automatically to your original payment method.

  • We'll also provide Unity-only creators with Two complimentary Kits of your choice added to your permanent library.
