You’ve been called to an important Mission! Mission to Minerva is our latest community art challenge where together, we will build a galaxy!

Skip Ahead:

What is the Mission to Minerva Challenge?

Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to take our new free Kit and build a settlement on a planet within Minerva of your creation. Once you’ve built your world, share a concept image or an animation with the community and become eligible to win incredible prizes and have your work seen by top recruiters and art directors from ILM, Netflix, NASA, Riot Games and CD Projekt Red!

How do I enter the Mission to Minerva Challenge?

To compete in the challenge, download the free Mission to Minerva Kit to build your own world in concept art (still image) or in motion (animation). Then share your creation on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Artstation using #KB3Dchallenge during the challenge period from October 11, 2022 9am through December 2 , 2022 9am Pacific time. Posts submitted after December 2, 2022 9am PT or that do not include #KB3Dchallenge will not be considered.

Posts with the #KB3Dchallenge will be automatically entered into the challenge. KitBash3D will reach out to selected finalists via direct message on the social media profile used to submit for additional information shortly after the submission deadline. No purchase is necessary to participate in the Mission to Minerva challenge.

Can I submit more than one piece?

You can submit for both categories (still image and animation), as well as enter as many submissions as you want! If you choose to submit multiple pieces of work, they will each be judged individually, not collectively.

Can I collaborate with multiple artists?

You're welcome to collaborate with multiple artists to submit a piece, but only one winner will be selected so it'll be up to you and your fellow artists to decide how to split the prize in the chance of winning.

How will submissions be evaluated?

Challenge submissions will be evaluated by our expert panel of judges based on incorporation of the theme, render quality, creativity, and storytelling. Qualifying submissions must use at least one asset from the Mission to Minerva Kit and incorporate the Challenge theme of discovery, exploration, and space-faring civilization.

When creating your world, consider the following:

  • Incorporation of Theme: Mission to Minerva assets must be identifiably incorporated into the submission, and the style and theme should broadly reflect the prompt as described on the Challenge page.

  • Render Quality: How well is the submission executed? Does it make good use of composition, lighting, and atmosphere? For animations, consider polishing with transitions, sound design, music, etc.

  • Creativity: Is your submission unique or original? Does it transform the provided assets into something new and interesting? Your submission can be anything connected to the theme, like an environment, an interior, a spaceship, or anything you can imagine in The Minerva Galaxy. Use your imagination and define your world!

  • Storytelling: Is there an engaging story being told in the concept or animation? Does it hint at a full world within The Minerva Galaxy beyond what’s shown in the submission itself? Remember, together we are telling the story of the entire galaxy…What story will you contribute?

All judges are solely participating in the Mission to Minerva Challenge as individuals, and are not representing their employers or other affiliated companies. Their companies are not sponsors or partners of the Challenge. Participation in the Challenge or selection as a finalist or winner does not provide for any consideration of employment or other endorsement from those companies.
